Nonprofit Spotlight: The Crane Trust
As a provider of investment advice to numerous nonprofits, Innovest has the privilege of introducing you to some of our fantastic clients. This month we are proud to feature the Crane Trust.
Formed in 1978, the Crane Trust works to protect and maintain the physical, hydrological, and biological integrity of the Big Bend area of the Platte River for whooping cranes, sandhill cranes, and other migratory birds. Their mission is accomplished through three methods. First, they purchase and restore habitats for cranes and other migratory birds. Second, they study cranes and other local birds on how they survive through migrations. Third, they proudly represent the long-term future of cranes.
The Crane Trust uses technology and partnerships to better understand the systems and communicate their findings through photography, time-lapse videos, and other means in order to share information and reach a much broader audience outside of the scientific community. Serving as a resource center, the Crane Trust hosts scientists from all over the world to learn and promote conservation and education through outreach into youth and local community.
If you are planning a trip to Nebraska and are interested in spotting Sandhill Cranes, the Crane Trust suggests that the entire month of March and early April are excellent viewing times. For a richer experience with viewing the migration, the Crane Trust offers VIP experiences with meals, lodging, and viewings. To learn more about the Crane Trust, please visit cranetrust.org.
