"Coming out of one of the sharpest and deepest recessions in history, 2021 saw the global economy continue to recover from the huge economic hole brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. While COVID-19 remained a factor, the rollout of vaccine programs in many countries helped significantly reduce hospitalizations and deaths, and many lockdowns and restrictions were eased. Looking across the globe, there was quite a divergence from country to country in both vaccine access and the speed of which programs were rolled out."
