I am surprised by how many leaders embark on the sale process believing it will be a snap. They assume it’s just like selling a house. They’ll get the business appraised, hire a broker to market it, sell to the highest bidder, and walk off into the sunset.
Selling a company is far more complicated. And I’ve found that confronting the difficulties in the sale journey can also provide the impetus business owners need to move forward.
